Twin Oaks Computing Offering Free Passes to AUVSI's Xponential

On May 8-11, 2017, the largest global community of leaders in drones, intelligent robotics and unmanned systems will come together to shape the future of our industry.

Twin Oaks Computing will be exhibiting at Booth #3241, and our VP of Client Services, Nina Tucker, will give a Solutions Theater Presentation on May 9th at 1:30pm, entitled Can Your Connectivity Protocol Defeat Cyber Attacks?

Synopsis: Unmanned systems share the common connection requirements of reliability and security. How are your software components connected? Does that connectivity protocol or middleware meet your reliability and security requirements? This presentation takes an in-depth look at the latest advances in Data Distribution Service (DDS) standardized connectivity protocol with a focus on secure data communications. The DDS Security specification includes state of the art technologies for end-to-end secure data communications.

Twin Oaks Computing is sponsoring FREE customer passes for AUVSI. Passes are good for all 3 days of Xponential and provide access into the Keynote Sessions, exhibit floor programming and into the exhibits.

Twin Oaks Computing is also giving away FREE t-shirts for stopping by Booth #3241 during the event (while supplies last).

What's New in the DDS Standards

The DDS Standards are continuously being enhanced and improved. Here are some updates from the March OMG technical meeting in Reston, VA.:

  • IDL v4.0 Language Mappings: With the new consolidated IDL v4.0, the OMG has been talking about how to update the various language mappings. Twin Oaks Computing presented a proposal on the format and coverage of the new language mappings. Agreement from the working group decided a new RFP makes sense. RFP will be reviewed at the Brussles meeting, and a release expected later in 2017.
  • Unified XML: The Unified XML standard, which is a standardized way to represent DDS types, DDS Qos, DDS Entities, and the DDS Security Configuration, is now in the RFC stage. During the technical meeting there was a vote to accept the document submission, and the RFC went to AB vote.
  • OPC-DDS Gateway: This standard is in the RFP stage. Further activity is postponed until the Brussels meeting in June.
  • XRCE (Extreme Resource Constrained Environments): This standard is in the RFP stage. There are two submissions. The submissions were reviewed and the group determined to consider consolidation.
  • X-Types v1.2: This was approved by the AB. X-types RTF was opened, and work has begun on the next version (1.3).
  • DDS Security: The very first Secure Interoperability demo was successful.
